Networking is a most vital thing in today’s world where there are millions of professionals that connect through various events and social media platforms. I did an informational interview with Jacqueline smith she also mentioned that networking can lead to many job opportunities especially using LinkedIn. In my personal experience, networking on social media platforms has bought me many job opportunities according to my qualifications and experience which is really helpful. So here are few tips to make you a Pro at Networking.

Choosing platform- LinkedIn is a very popular platform for finding jobs but it much more than that. You can connect to several job offering professionals, industrialists and connect to them, but choosing the correct networking platform is very vital. You see LinkedIn might not be beneficial to every individual, so you need to choose an accurate platform for yourself such as for a small business owner, Facebook or Instagram can be very beneficial to showcase their products and connect to buyers. For a new graduate, LinkedIn can be helpful, for a home baker, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram can be useful to connect, etc.

Quality, not quantity- Well an individual will connect to as many people as he wants but a rational person will connect to only superior professionals that can actually provide him with helpful insights for his career. A pro will have a network of ten top-notch connections that have been nurtured over time that will prove to be more valuable than a shaky network of 1000 connections.

Attend networking events- Whenever you get an opportunity always attend any social event. Sometimes if an event is not even known as a networking event it can be made use to network with people to create some opportunities. Always make some business cards for yourself that has your name, contact, and qualifications on them. Whenever you meet a potential employer or a connection you can give them your business card which will be helpful for them in the future if they want to connect to you.

Assist your connections- Networking is not a one-way street you got to help others as well. Networking is not about taking assistance from connections but also helping them with your skills whenever they need help. Pay attention while communicating with your networks in which thing they might need help and try assisting them in their tasks.

Know more about your connections- When you meet new people at networking events, it not important to always grab a job or find something of your means, sometimes knowledge can be very powerful. Always try to know more about people so that you can grab more knowledge of new things. Expand your research about the people attending the event so that you know in advance a bit about the person you are going to talk to. There is a high chance of impressing that person if you know his history.

Connect upwards- It will be beneficial to connect with qualified personnel, but a pro person will mostly connect to people above his positions. The professionals who are above your level of success can give you more insights and real-life experiences about the job and work world. They might also assist and introduce to you even more successful people for your networking.
