What is LinkedIn?
Like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and others, LinkedIn is a social organization. Furthermore, in contrast to most social media networks, LinkedIn is a professional networking site, intended to help individuals make business associations, share their experiences and resumes, and secure positions in the industry. LinkedIn is also based on principles like connecting to friends (or, on account of LinkedIn, "connections,"), posting updates, sharing and liking content, and instant messaging other professionals. But all this is done in a professionally acceptable manner.
Why it is important for an EA?
There are a lot of reasons why LinkedIn is important to an EA. The number one reason is that it helps them build their professional brand online and highlights how well they stand out from other professionals in terms of strengths and personality. LinkedIn keeps all the professional connections’ information in a very easily accessible manner that doesn’t require any effort at all, and it saves the EA from the hassle of carrying around physical business cards or writing down someone’s email on a notepad. LinkedIn can also help an EA stay up to date on the industry news and updates. The updates on LinkedIn are not limited to an organization’s blog but, they can be found within their connections, groups, and company as well.
7 easy tips to make you a pro at LinkedIn:
1) Professional display picture- A smiling picture goes long way. Use your professional picture for your LinkedIn profile picture. Professional photos include formal clothing, decent background, good posture. A profile picture should be up to your shoulder or forearms. Never use a selfie, vacation pictures, wedding pictures, or any other photos that do not represent a professional photo.
2) Update and check often- LinkedIn is just somewhat like other social media platforms but more professional and career-related which is why you should check it every day and update it whenever necessary. Your employment history, educational background, volunteer work, and all other sections should be updated frequently.

3) Double check grammatical errors- Even one grammatical or spelling error can cause you’re your dream job or interaction with an employer. No professional employer expects you to make a spelling error or a grammatical error. Always double-check your grammar and sentence formation. Make a first good impression by removing all errors.
4) It is not like other social media platforms- LinkedIn is a professional social media application that is meant for career and professional meetings, discussions, posts, etc. Only use the application for strictly professional use. This is the number one quality of a pro to use the application for its intended purpose only.
5) Explore your groups to add social interests- Sometimes employers can check what are your social interests. A novice user will only update the basic information on his LinkedIn profile, but a pro should complete all the sections effectively. Adding the groups of your social interests, following pages, influencers and organizations can affect positively your employer or your interviewer.

6) Introduction should be meaningful- Your introduction should not be too long or too short but as a pro, your bio should be meaningful with showing what you want to achieve and should clarify your interest and skills that can attract appropriate job employers.
7) Show gratitude for recommendations- it is not important to gather a large number of recommendations, but it is important to gather important, good, and meaningful recommendations about skills and workings that can support your current job interests. Always show gratitude towards people and mention them by commenting thank you under their given recommendations to look more professional.
